Could you be one of Inside Housing’s Women in Housing 2025?

Could you or someone you know be a Women in Housing 2025 award winner? Celebrate the leaders, innovators, and changemakers shaping the housing sector—find out how to enter and make your mark!

Could you be one of Inside Housing’s Women in Housing 2025?

The Women in Housing Awards took place this year alongside the Housing Heroes Awards as the opening ceremony for Housing 2024. Together they celebrate the leaders, innovators and changemakers across the sector, championing the successes of women and sharing learning from teams and individuals within the housing sector. The awards recognise achievements from apprentice, to tenant, to chief executive, and we received nominations from organisations across the UK.

The awards pull together judging panels of more than 30 industry experts (view the 2024 judges listed here) and pride themselves on the robustness of the process, ensuring all entries are fairly considered and thoroughly reviewed. The judges review entries to decide on the shortlist and winners in a two-step judging process.

The 2024 winners demonstrate precisely the impact the sector has, and the range of opportunities and activities it delivers. From inclusion, to innovation, to tenants and residents making a difference to health and well-being initiatives, these are the stories of the inspirational people who live and work in the sector. It’s a chance to spread learning too – so if you’re looking for tips or a slice of inspiration, these are the people to watch.

The Women in Housing awards share the stories of the individuals who, through their work and ideas, are making a huge difference in the housing sector.

So, this is your chance to fly the Women in Housing flag in 2025.

Entries open early in December and you have until Friday 7 March 2025 to submit a nomination.  Winners will be announced and all finalists celebrated at the awards ceremony at Manchester Central on Monday 23 June 2025, also the opening ceremony to Housing 2025.

Register here to be first to know when entries open.

Submitting an entry

The awards are free and easy to enter, and 2025 categories include:

  • Board/committee member of the year
  • Career development initiative of the year
  • Inclusion champion
  • Professional of the year
  • Woman of the future
  • Woman of the year
  • Employer of the year (joint with the Housing Heroes Awards)

Each entry form requires you to provide the following:

  • Answers to two questions; the first asks you to summarise the team, individual or project in 200 words and the second asks you to explain why they should win the award in 800 words.
  • Two high-quality horizontal photographs related to your submission (such as a photo of the individual or team) to appear on screen and within the awards programme on the night if you are shortlisted.

These awards are open to anyone with any connection to social housing – including tenants as well as professionals – whatever their level of seniority or experience. We want to celebrate leaders, innovators and change makers across our sector.

We are seeking women who:

  • Have had a demonstrable impact within their organisation or area, and potentially beyond
  • Excel in their roles but have also gone above and beyond to make a difference
  • Have showed a real commitment to working with others to achieve collective success, including potentially helping others into the sector and/or advancing within it

If that sounds like you or someone you know, we would love to hear from you.

Entry tips:

  • Tell us the story – build a real picture of the work the individual has done.
  • Provide evidence and testimonials – robust data which shows the value of your work is crucial, but don’t forget the human side. We want to hear from partners the team or individual has worked with and the people their work has benefitted.
  • Don’t count yourself out – you don’t necessarily have to meet every criteria, we’ll judge entries based on the strength of the information presented to us. Think back to the title of the category for the real test on whether you think your work can compete.
  • Think ‘so what?’ – telling us how you’ve done something is important, but telling us why it matters is crucial. Always keep the big picture in mind.
  • Think of your wider goals – an individual’s work can be hugely successful but how has it helped your organisation achieve its wider goals? And how has it made your organisation more efficient and cost effective?
