WISH North Wales: Walk and Talk at Aber Falls

On what turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year, a group of our members walked to one of North Wales’ most famous beauty spots, Aber Falls. This informal event gave us opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues while enjoying the gorgeous scenery we’re so lucky to have on our doorstep.

We would love to hear from our members about whether they’d like us to host more of these events (although we can’t guarantee, this being North Wales, that we’ll always bring the sunshine!). Perhaps a beach walk next time…?

On 23rd September we hosted a webinar where we were lucky to be joined by two inspiring women leading the way in building the affordable homes we so desperately need in Wales. Siân Diaz (Regional Development Directgor, Lovells) and Claire Tristham (Director of Development (West), Pobl Group) spoke to us about “placemaking”, which is a collaborative approach to planning and designing homes and associated spaces that truly enhance the quality of life of communities.

We heard about some of the pioneering schemes that they have been involved in delivering, the challenges they’ve faced along the way and what placemaking means to them.

Siân and Claire also shared with us their personal stories, giving us insight into how they have succeeded professionally in an industry that is still predominantly male-dominated.
