The WISH South East Region was launched on the 7th February 2019 by our board members at Ebbsfleet Football club. Support was overwhelming, with over 100 attendees and such incredible feedback, which made it clear that starting a new region in the South East was a good call.
We were very lucky to have such inspiring guest speakers which included:
Who each spoke about their experiences working within the sector.
“Our launch event was all about setting the direction of travel, and attendees were asked about what they want to get out of their membership and what they want to learn themselves. We want to make sure that it is a member-driven region.”
The board has several main objectives demonstrating our vision for the new region. But key is to create a supportive environment within the south east where women could come together, network and feel supported to seek advice for career development. Which is why we couldn’t be prouder when we received the following feedback to board member, Alison Bennett
“Thank you so much! I must admit that it was attending the WISH conference that gave me the confidence I needed for the interview.’’
It’s feedback like this that makes it all worthwhile and inspires our next events!
WISH London and SE held a joint session with The Housing Forum at the CIH Total Housing conference in Brighton. The event was extremely well attended, with attendees crowding in for standing room. The topic of ‘Changing the Dynamic – the benefits of a diverse workplace’. Following presentations, there were further discussions, led by our expert panel of a diverse cross section of the housing industry, including Shirley Heapy, our SE Region Vice Chair. The discussion was inspiring, with many ideas and good practice shared.
We are holding our next event on the 6th June in Sussex. This will be centred around a summer BBQ and will primarily be a networking event. However, we will be proposing four topics which we will ask attendees to vote on, which we will then take to round table formatted sessions. These will run in addition to our usual four events throughout the year.
We look forward to seeing you on the 6th June, and look forward to hearing your thoughts on the proposed ideas for the round table sessions.
