WISH South West Winter Newsletter
WISH SW have a new Board Member, Faye Galvin, from Merlin Housing who has lots of PR, Social Media and Marketing experience which we are grateful for. Sadly, we say goodbye to two of our longest standing BMs, Dee O'Neill and Wendy Murphy, who are moving on to pastures new. We wish them both well and thank them very much for all of their commitment and hard work over the last years.
WISH SW's first event of early summer was held in Bristol to coincide with the CIH Housing Conference. The venue was the excellent and historic Horts Pub in the city centre and around 30 ladies (plus a few brave men!) came along for lunch and networking. We on the SW committee have already decided to repeat this next year as it was such a success!
WISH SW has continued its run of holding informative and entertaining events. We held a Networking Skills event on March 23rd, kindly hosted by sponsors, Blake Morgan Solicitors in Southampton. WISH SW board members Michelle Thomas and Dee O'Neill provided hints and tips on how to 'read' a room when you first walk in so that you can approach individuals or groups of people with ease; explained what a good 'networking suit' is and how to follow up on leads to ensure business success. Michelle and Dee both have backgrounds in the male-dominated world of development and construction and have around fifty years of networking experience between them! The event was well attended by women who are both new to the world of social housing and those who were looking to brush up their skills.
