Glad rags on for Women In Housing
WISH support the annual WIH Awards Now in its seventh year, the Women In Housing Awards held in Manchester in early October is getting bigger and bigger and was an amazing opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women in the sector from all over the UK.
At WISH we are hugely grateful to our National Sponsors who support us every year and help us to keep delivering a great service to our members.
WISH Cumbria - Understanding Governance
Our Understanding Governance event with Liz Cross, Founder and Managing Director of The Connectives, was held in Kendal on the 20th June. South Lakes Housing kindly offered their venue for this incredibly popular event, with 25 attendees joining us to network and take away some excellent insights and information from Liz about what makes a good Board and strong governance.

WISH Cumbria - Speaking with Confidence
Speaking with confidence was a sell-out event and we were delighted to welcome many new faces. Our guest speaker, Marcus Orlovsky is a TED X host and coaches the speakers so they can get their message across clearly in their 10 minute slot.
WISH Cumbria Learns The Modern Way To Get A Job
A job is no longer for life and with the many restructures affecting people working in the social housing sector across Cumbria, WISH Cumbria has offered support to its members, extending the offer to others in the county working in the industry. WISH Cumbria called upon an HR expert to present a workshop packed with give tips and advice on getting a job (or promotion) in a modern world. It proved to be a very motivating and enlightening afternoon.
Let's Take Action Against Domestic Abuse
There is no doubt of the importance social housing has in providing a safety net for those affected directly by abuse - in all its forms. WISH Cumbria's first event of the year took place the day before the national Chartered Institute of Housing Domestic Abuse Conference 2018.

WISH Cumbria continues to go from strength to strength since it was created in 2015. We are growing steadily with more event attendees becoming members and a diverse range of people attending our events who work right across the social housing sector from housing officers to architects, surveyors and solicitors working in Cumbria.
WISH Cumbria had a successfu 'Mastering the Digital' event in June, with the guys from Comms Hero providing some top Twitter tips and advice. Attendees of the event have been upping their Twitter game on both personal and professional accounts - my favourite bit of advice from the event was to use pictures in your tweets as people love them!
