As we approach the end of another incredible year, WISH Yorkshire & Humberside reflects on a series of successful and impactful events that have brought together professionals, experts, and community leaders in the housing sector. From safeguarding best practices to inspirational talks, 2024 has been a year of learning, and connection.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the WISH Yorkshire & Humberside safeguarding event. Your presence and participation made the event truly special.
Big thank you to our sponsors:

A special thanks to our speakers:
Saxon Bond, Head of Service and Safeguarding Lead, South Yorkshire Housing Association
Jeanette Munday, Adult Care & Wellbeing Directorate, Sheffield City Council
Louise Dean, Community Safety Manager, Anchor
Liz O’Connor, Housing Director, Horton Housing
Your insights and expertise were outstanding, as always.
And thanks to South Yorkshire Housing Association for providing the venue.
We also extend our gratitude to the South Yorkshire Housing Association for providing their fabulous facilities.
The event on Thursday, 10th October from 1-3PM, was a great success, offering a platform for housing providers, community leaders, and experts to share best practices in safeguarding and thought leadership. The enhanced Consumer Standards by the Regulator of Social Housing, including requirements for domestic abuse and hate crime, were discussed in depth, providing valuable insights for all attendees.
Another highlight of our year was the International Women's Day event, where we had the honor of listening to Kay Dickinson, Vice Chair at South Yorkshire Housing Association. Kay's talk at our Inspiring Women event was deeply empowering, reflecting on her current role and sharing her journey of continuous learning, curiosity, and new thinking. Despite retiring early and having no previous experience in the housing sector, Kay embraced new challenges with enthusiasm, resonating with many attendees and sparking emotional reflections.
Kay’s story reminded us all of the importance of knowing our worth and ensuring that others see our value as well. Her words were a powerful reminder that self-belief and perseverance can lead to incredible achievements.
As we look forward to 2025, WISH Yorkshire & Humberside remains committed to providing valuable opportunities for growth, networking, and learning. We are excited about the future and the potential to continue making a positive impact in the housing sector.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this year's events. Your support and participation are what make these gatherings so special. A special thank you to our speakers, sponsors, and the South Yorkshire Housing Association for their contributions. We can't wait to see what the next year holds!
