This role is perfect for someone who wants to develop a career in housing, income, welfare benefits and tenancy sustainment while gaining hands on experience and working towards a recognised qualification.

As a Financial Inclusion Apprentice, you’ll support tenants with essential advice and guidance, help customers navigate welfare benefits, and play an important part in promoting financial wellbeing across our communities. If you’re motivated, curious and passionate about helping people, this could be the ideal first step into a rewarding career.

Please note, this is a Fixed-Term Contract ending 1st June 2027.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintaining accurate records and handling sensitive information in line with legislation and GDPR.
  • Calculating and checking benefit awards, including UC, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support.
  • Helping customers maximise their income and navigate changes in circumstances that affect their benefits.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to support tenancy sustainment and customer wellbeing.
  • Contributing to service improvements and developing your knowledge and skills throughout the apprenticeship.

What we’re looking for:

  • A genuine desire to learn about housing, rents, welfare benefits and financial inclusion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to different customer needs.
  • Good IT skills and confidence maintaining accurate records.
  • A supportive, considerate approach, especially when working with customers experiencing hardship or vulnerability.
  • Willingness to work towards a relevant qualification and take responsibility for your own learning and development.
  • Reliability, good attendance and the ability to complete tasks to agreed timescales.
  • A team focused attitude and willingness to share learning with colleagues.

This role will require the successful candidate to undergo a basic DBS as part of their onboarding, due to the sensitive nature of the information involved.

Why this role matters:

You will play an important role in supporting customers during challenging times, helping them access the financial support they need and contributing to tenancy sustainment. This apprenticeship offers hands on experience, professional development, and the chance to make a meaningful difference every day.
