McTaggart Construction is looking for an experienced Assistant Site Manager to support the delivery of affordable housing and construction projects across our sites on the West Coast of Scotland.

This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with the Site Manager to keep projects on track, ensure work is completed to the required standard, and support the day-to-day running of busy construction sites.



What you'll do:

• Support the Site Manager with the safe and successful delivery of construction projects.

• Help coordinate site activities, subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour.

• Monitor progress against project programmes and assist with short-term planning.

• Carry out site inspections and quality checks to ensure work meets required standards.

• Produce snagging lists and support the sign-off process for completed works.

• Promote a strong health and safety culture across the site.

• Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and routine safety inspections with site staff and subcontractors.

• Assist with organising materials, plant, equipment and site facilities.

• Record labour levels, progress updates and site information accurately.

• Attend and support progress meetings with subcontractors and suppliers.

• Work with commercial, procurement and technical teams to support project delivery.

• Step in to oversee site operations when required in the absence of the Site Manager.

• Support sustainability and waste management initiatives on site.



What we're looking for:

• Experienced Assistant Site Manager with a minimum of 3 years' on-site experience required.

• Knowledge of housebuilding, social housing, or general construction projects.

• Understanding of construction health and safety requirements and site management practices.

• Strong communication and organisational skills.

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Valid SMSTS, CSCS Card and First Aid qualifications are desirable.

• Trade background or construction-related qualification would be advantageous.

• Full UK driving licence.
