The official WISH Midlands launch was held in Birmingham in September to coincide with the National Housing Federation’s annual conference. More than 150 guests came along to hear about the newly-formed Region and to see how they could get involved.
Following on from the success of the launch, a leadership event was held on 9 November at the Mazars offices in Birmingham. Debbie Griffiths, Housing Consultant and former Chief Executive of Housing Plus, gave an inspiring presentation to the 50 plus attendees about the challenges she’d faced throughout her own career in senior management.
Co-founder and Chair of the WISH Midlands Board, Rebecca Clarke – who also serves as a Regional Manager for the Chartered Institute of Housing – said:
“We’ve been bowled over with the popularity of the Midlands Region; there was such high demand from the get go.
“It’s an exciting time for us now: we’ve just finalised our calendar for 2018 and it looks set to be a year of varied opportunities to meet new people and learn new things. We’re set to focus on practical development skills, such as social media and the importance of mentoring, but also topics such as resilience and wellbeing.
“We’d like to welcome anyone (including any interested men) to come along to their first event free of charge to see what we have to offer. We’re also keen to hear from members and prospective members about what kinds of events they’d like in the future.”
The next WISH Midlands event will be a chance to eat, drink and be merry, taking place on the evening of Thursday 14 December at the Lost & Found in Birmingham. Book your tickets now or follow @WISHMidlands on Twitter to find out more.
