WISH North Wales - Governance: The Real Story: The Good, the Scary and the Opportunities.

On September 6^th, WISH North Wales hosted an event all about understanding good governance and the importance of addressing diversity in the board room.

More than 50 members and friends of WISH gathered at Ty Menai in Bangor and enjoyed an educational and interactive session which covered: An Introduction to Governance, Good Practice Versus the Real World, Leadership and Women in the Boardroom and discussion and planning around our own leadership journeys.

The session was led by Pamela Ball a dynamic business and social sector consultant and governance leader for Do-Well Uk Ltd. Pamela’s extensive experience in senior and executive roles and passion for supporting and promoting gender equality really shone through and encouraged the audience to share the typical challenges and barriers they have faced to date in their careers.  Some of the stories demonstrated that Women have come quite some way in the work place but there is still a lot more to do!

Our WISH North Wales board member, Catherine Simpson, presented her own journey to Senior Associate in the Housing and Regeneration Department at Trowers, and the important lessons that she has learned along the way.

We’ve already received lots of positive feedback and look forward to our next workshop on October 25^th which will be all about raising our professional profile on social media.

Fantastic event yesterday, loved the topic and meeting with / networking with some fantastic and inspirational women.
