In a jam-packed and thought provoking session, Emma shared insight with us on why women are less represented in senior roles despite 57% of graduates in the UK being women. We looked to our own careers paths to try and identify our own barriers and find ways of developing ourselves without losing our own authentic selves.
We were then asked to ‘build our own boardroom’ and use this to network with intent by identifying where we have gaps in our support community, or indeed where we may be too reliant on our own organisations. Emma helped us understand that to advance in business, and to become good leaders, we need the help of mentors and sponsors – both male and female – along with a community of supporters who believe wholeheartedly in our visions, potential, and value.
We’d like to thank Emma for her fantastic and thought-provoking session, and Leeds Federated for the generous use of their space. I know that we found it to be an invaluable and stimulating.
