5103 Board Member, WISH East - WISH East

We’re looking for new Board members to join WISH East and help us continue to grow a welcoming, supportive and valuable network for women working across social housing.

Can you help our WISH East Board to plan events that offer network value, fun, and bring together a wide range of women working in social housing?

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone working in the social housing sector from any role within a public or private organisation. We are particularly interested in boosting Board membership representation from Registered Providers in the East of England. You need to be passionate about gender equality and the value of networking. You don’t have to be in a senior leadership position. There’s so much scope to assist our board that we’re sure your skills will be transferable.

How does being a Board member benefit you?

You’ll grow influence, exposure, and perspective working with a group of likeminded women, some of whom might just become friends for life!

Board experience signals strategic thinking and leadership maturity. As a WISH Board member, you’ll get to influence services that directly affect our sector and contribute to long-term outcomes through thought leadership events and networking.

You’ll work alongside senior leaders, experienced Board members, and those starting out on their journey in a safe environment where you can build confidence.

What would you role involve?

We draw on our collective expertise, skills and enthusiasm to deliver a programme of at least three events per year for our members and network. Broadly, our activities fall under memberships, events, finances, and social media and marketing. If you have skills in any of these areas we’d love to hear from you.

There are a range of roles and responsibilities available on the Regional Board, all of which provide a fantastic opportunity for personal development, network development and the likelihood of meeting women who will become friends for life!

Bring your skills to support any of these activities.

• Organising events.

• Promoting activities, events, and WISH East across social media platforms.

• Increasing WISH membership by actively interacting with organisations and businesses in the social housing sector.

• Attending and participating in Regional Board meetings.

• Helping to secure sponsorship.

• Highlighting interesting and relevant topics for webinars.

• Securing guest speakers.

The time required is flexible. The Board work together as a team to provide support for each other. As a guide, you would spend between 6 and 8-hours each month on Board activities. We’d expect you to attend two to three in-person events each year to represent WISH East. Events can be anywhere in the East region.

Our East Board:

Each WISH region is managed by a regional Board of volunteers led by a Chair. The WISH East Board has nine members with a range of skills and experience.

At WISH East, we arrange in person and online events. Through our networks, we provide access to expert speakers who share their knowledge and learning.

At our in-person events, we create a welcoming, inclusive, safe, supportive, and fun networking environment. We want attendees to leave our events feeling inspired and happier, with renewed energy and vigour.
